Golden Wedding

We made the cake and cupcakes for my cousin Ethan's wedding.  I was able to work with my favorite partner in baking crime, my mom.
They wanted a simple rosette cake and we kept the theme with rosette frosted cupcakes.

The cupcakes flavors were Pineapple, Mango, and Chocolate Coconut.

Each cupcake flavor had their own unique topper.  I spent over 7 hours creating the delicate gum paste gold flowers for the pineapple.  I also designed  the name toppers and Flavor display cards.

Disney pops

My daughter did a senior project and used disneyland as her subject. As part of that project they had to bring in a treat to share with the class.
We created these Mickey cake pops and they turned out so cute!
Super simple and again...so cute!

C is for Cookie

Our ward had a fundraiser auction and asked all the youth to donate items to bid on.  They wanted some dessert items so I of course had to run with that ;)
I've had these cookie pans for quite a while and have used the round before, but I finally had a chance to use the Mickey one.
The face is M&Ms cookie and the ears are Oreo cookies. I've been experimenting with modeling chocolate lately, so had to try using it for decorations.
I first created the Mickey & Minnie cookies.

After making the Mickey cookies I was left with one I decorated round cookie.  I hadn't really planned anything for this one so after a bit of brainstorming I came up with this...

He he a Cookie Monster cookie!  (Complete with mini eaten cookie)
If I so this one again I may just use blue M&Ms next time.
They were all a big hit at the auction!

Bars and cookies and pops..,oh my!

For our relief society activity they asked me to set up a dessert table with a "wizard of Oz" theme. My mind began to creatively wander and did a little Pinterest research, until I finally came up with this...

Red velvet poppy field cake pops
Dorothy's gingham dipped Oreos
Ruby red slipper sugar cookies
Rainbow fruit kabobs
Yellow brick road Rice Krispies
Coordinating water bottles.
Again, a lot of time went into creating this but it turned out so fun and perfectly fit their theme.

Cake-o-Rama

I've never really advertised my ability to make cakes.  Honestly, it's just a bit of a hobby, a very involved, messy, delicious and fun hobby.  The past few months I've had quite a few cake requests.  They've all been a challenge in their own little way and for the most part I've been happy with how they've turned out. (Aren't we all our own worst critic).
So I just wanted to share what I've created lately...

Wizard of Oz

Miranda was in the Wizard of Oz and just like previous shows I was in charge of designing the lobby table display.
I had a ton of fun creating all the different elements from the play. Even the ruby slippers :)  I was so excited to find a "yellow brick road" frame too.  Miranda helped me chalk the rainbow behind the vinyl.
It was so fun to see people taking pictures with my display this time. They all loved the witches feet and rainbow.

Christmas Dough

I saw something similar to this online and couldn't wait to make it for neighbor gifts this year. I mean everyone can use extra dough at Christmas!
